This cylindrical inkpot is made of bronze. The base is decorated with a central medallion depicting the harmonious alternation of three elegant gazelles surrounded by plant shoots. Three round medallions are inserted to the same number of cartouches, decorated with plant shaped arabesques. The whole surface of the ink holder is enriched with engravings: two registers with kufic inscriptions on floral background contain three lobed niches featuring the image of the senmùrw, the mythical Iranian animal. Each niche is flanked by birds enclosed in circular rings. Three small palmette handles enrich the ink pot. There are three simple, studded handles around the edge of the lid, which is also decorated with plant shoots. A small cupola with embossed drops and decorated with flowers originates from a cartouche inscribed with kufic lettering.
