This bowl is made of engraved, impressed, glazed frit. The sides have been thinned and well-modelled. The upper edge is wide, despite the raised foot of the base. The deep intaglio and fretwork of the ceramic body is the Islamic attempt to create an effect of translucence and imitate Chinese porcelain. The internal register features a spiral decoration, part of which features fretwork. Against the light, this creates a pleasant chiaroscuro effect. Five cobalt blue, longitudinal lines enhance the monochromatic surface of the bowl.
